One day more to go and the 1st sequel of the live action film Ruruoni Kenshin’s Kyoto Inferno (Taike-hen) will start showing across all SM Cinemas in the Philippines!


You should be!

Kyoto Inferno will focus on Kenshin’s  battle against Juppongatana (Ten Swords) a group of elite warriors headed by Makoto Shishio (Tatsuya Fujiwara).

It’s an epic battle between these antagonistic elite warriors versus Kenshin and his friends! Definitely a must-watch!

But hold on! Before you drag your friends out to witness Kenshin’s comeback on screen, let’s go an meet the movie’s multi-talented cast real quick!

Let’s start of with…

TAKERU SATOH (Kenshin Himura)


The movie’s protagonist. Takeru Sato is notable for his lead role in Kamen Rider Den-O as Ryotaro Nogami. Satoh also starred in the award-winning television series Rookies which he considers as his breakout role despite playing only a minor part.

In 2009, Satoh played the role of Kento Shibata in the movie Mei-chan no Shitsuji where he enrolled in a butler school to stay close with the protagonist Mei Shinonome. His role in this movie had been a fan favorite.



Ever seen Battle Royale and Death Note Live action films? Then you should be familiar with Tatsuya Fujiwara.

He’s notable for playing the roles of the main protagonists Shuya Nanahara and Light Yagami (KIRA) respectively. Tatsuya is also known for doing collaborative theatrical works with the famous director Yukio Ninagawa.

In 2010, Fujiwara played one of the lead roles in the psychological thriller film The Incite Mill by the filmmaker Hideo Nakata.



Kamiki is an actor and voice actor famous for his role as the young overlord of darkness and light in the television series, Kamen Rider Agito.

He’s also the voice behind Boh of the animated fantasy film Spirited Away and Pi-suke of Doraemon: Nobita’s Dinosaur 2006.

Kamiki won the Popular Actor Award at the Seoul International Drama Awards last 2011 for the movie Kokoro no Ito.

EMI TAKEI (Kamiya Kaoru)


A multi-talented gal who originally began her career in the entertainment industry as a model of the Japanese fashion magazine, Seventeen.

Takei became the first Japanese person to be contracted by the famous Italian luxury brand Gucci. On December 2011, she made her debut as a singer under Universal Japan with the single Koisuru Kimochi. 

Her experience varies from modeling to television and voice acting up to product endorsing. Few of Takei’s awards include

  • Best New Actor Award for Ruruoni Kenshin, Ai to Makoto, and Kyo koi o Hajimemasu at the 36th Japan Academy Awards last 2013,
  • Best New Actress Award at the 24th Yamaji Fumiko Film Awards last 2012,
  • Vogue Japan Woman of the Year 2011 Award

MUNETAKA AOKI (Sagara Sanosuke)


Aoki is an actor who is known for his roles in Battle Royale II (2003) as Jun Nanami and the 2012 movie Fly with the Gold as the King.

His television series experience include the roles of Jun Murakami in Hatsukoi (2012), Nihonjin no Shiranai Nihonggo (2010) as Taiyo Shibuya and many more.

YU AOI (Takani Megumi)


Aoi is a model and actress who started her career as Shiori Tsuda in the 2001 film All About Lily Chou-Chou

On the 30th commemoration anniversary of Kit Kat in Japan, Aoi co-starred with Anne Suzuki in a series of short films shot by the Japanese director Shunji Iwai. This series eventually evolved to the feature film, Hana & Alice which earned Aoi the Best Actress Award at the Japanese Professional Movie Award.

Since her debut, Aoi has been consistently involved in film projects earning him several more awards like:

  • Best Supporting Actress at the Hochi Film Awards in 2006 for the film, Rainbow Song,
  • Best Actress at the Yokohama Film Festival in 2006 for the film, Honey and Clover

YUSUKE ISEYA (Aoshi Shinomori)


Jack of all trades in the arts industry being an actor, director, artist and to top it all off, a businessman.

Iseya is notable for his roles in the 2013 film The Kiyosu Conference as Nobukane Oda and the 2011 film Tomorrow’s Joe playing the role of Toru Rikiishi.

He also directed the films Fish on Land (2011) Kakuto (2003).

Iseya received the Best Supporting Actor Award on the 2011 54th Blue Ribbon Awards.

YOSUKE EGUCHI (Hajime Saito)


We’ve had actors, singers, directors and models on the list. Now let’s welcome another talent who’s a singer, actor and a POET!

Eguchi is notable for his roles as Goemon Ishikawa in the 2009 Japanese historical fantasy film, Goemon and as Oda Nobunaga in the television series, Gunshi Kanbei.

His film awards include the following:

  • Best Actor in the 44th Television Drama Academy Awards for the series Kyumei Byoto 24 Ji 3,
  • Best Actor in the 30th Television Drama Academy Award on the 2nd series of the same film,
  • Best Actor in the 20th Television Drama Academy Award on the 1st series of the same film

He’s also an endorser of Mitsubishi SUV Outlander in 2005.

TAO TSUCHIYA (Makimichi Misao)


Tsuchiya is an actress and fashion idol who starred in several Japanese movies and drama series.

Few of her notable roles include:

  • Yuka Kabayama (Jinroh Game: Beast Side) – 2014
  • Maki/Satsuji (Arcana) – 2013
  • Somi Ogawa (Suzuki sensei) – 2013
  • Princess Emerana Luludo Esmeralda (Ultraman Zero the Movie) – 2010
