Which Mangaka Desk Suits Your Creative Genius?

Have you ever dreamt of becoming a manga artist someday – writing your own story and drawing awesome characters you and other people can relate to?

You’re not alone. I, for one, have my own pet story in mind which I would definitely want to share with you, guys.

But before anything else, there’s this one basic item all mangakas have which we, aspirants, should also start finding ourselves – a sacred throne – the seat where all of the magic happens,  a personal space where we could summon our creative genius and let our love for art and storytelling flow.

Our very own DESK.

And there’s no specific rule saying just how exactly should a desk look like.

Your desk, is your throne. And you can make it however you wish.  Have a look at some personalized creative desks from manga and artists like yourself.

Draw inspiration, find which fits your preference, and set up your own!

We all have different tastes and what may serve as paradise for some artists may be annoying and uncomfortable to some.

Find your perfect mangaka niche.  Sit on the throne, and bring out that story you would want us all to know about!

P.S.

I personally love recreating my desk. Currently though, I have this one in the office:

  1. The first one is by Oda-sensei of ONE PIECE. I admire him very much and I’m a big fan, but his desk looks to messy for a person like me. I’m more of the keep all things neat and organized desk person. Anyway, interesting post. Shows a lot of personalities by manga artists by their desks.

  2. No desire to be a manga artist, but my work space is always covered in things. It isn’t messy (by my definition) but it is certainly hard to see the surface of the desk most days.

      1. Which suddenly reminds of what Einstein said: “If a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind, of what, then, is an empty desk sign?” Right2x. There’s order amidst the clutter, though I think, not all people understands that.

  3. Kamusta, kababayan! I’m actually surprised at the number of Filipino ani-blogger there are. You’re like the 6th I’ve met if my memory serves me right.

Anyways, as far as desks go, I’d rather have a tidy and organized layout than a cluttered one. Least thing I want to see in the morning is a grotesque display of random objects.

I feel like there’s a definite line between a desk its owner takes care of — one that ages well from use — and a desk its owner uses inconsiderately. I’m sentimental of my possessions which is why I’m more inclined to clean my desk that leave it as is.

    1. Yo! Kumusta! You know other Filipino ani-blogger? Pls. do tell! I’d like to read their works too! The only one I know so far is Arria Cross, the proponent of Fujinsei.

As to the desks, yep, organizing all your things might help you focus. I wish to see my own desk organized at times. But as soon as I start working, everything just goes everywhere. Haha! Yoroshiku!

  4. Haha, this was a fun post to read. I’d love to imagine that I would most align with the “Keep-all-things-clean-and-organized Desk” but in reality I don’t think I could keep it together. I’m neat and organized but not to the degree that I would want/need to be. Thanks for the read

    1. Thanks for dropping by too! Yeah, I do think a certain part of us would love to keep all things in order. The creative process however, sometimes demands us to throw order and just dig in the rubble to find treasure! Lol. I’m glad you liked it!

  5. I may not by a mangaka, but as an author, I like to keep my work area organized.
Then again, my entire work area consist of nothing but a laptop, and and adapter for said laptop, so keeping everything neat is pretty simple.
    Love the pictures, btw!

  6. Mines would start out looking like Keep-all-things-clean-and-organized Desk. And then turn into Squeeze-it-all-in Desk. That’s the usual process. Lol.

    thanks for sharing.
